2 week Chile holiday

Day 1 - Arrive in Santiago

Today you will arrive in the Chilean capital and a guide will be waiting for you at the airport to take you by private car to your centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Accommodation at Hotel Boutique Castillo Rojo in a standard room with breakfast for 3 nights.

Day 2 - Half day city tour - private

Described by the international media as a surprising destination, Santiago stands out for being a cosmopolitan and modern city that perfectly combines its traditions with a modern outlook.

The tour will take you to visit the heart of the city and its emblematic sites such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Santiago’s Central Postal Office and its Municipality. We will also visit the Moneda Palace, which is the government’s headquarters as well as the traditional neighborhoods of the historic city center. The tour also includes a visit to the San Cristobal hill. There we will learn more about Chile’s history and enjoy some of the best views in the city. 

Day 3 - Full day tour of Matetic vineyards and Valparaíso - private

Day 4 - Fly to the Atacama Desert and evening tour to the Moon Valley (shared)

Today you will be taken by private transfer to Santiago’s airport where you will catch a domestic flight (included) to Calama. Once landed, you will be met by your guide and driven by private car to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Enjoy a few hours at leisure and in the late afternoon you will be picked up by your transport and guide for a tour to the famous and geologically spectacular Moon Valley. 

A couple of km outside of San Pedro de Atacama, between the jagged rocks and unusual shapes of the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountains), we find the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), a geological wonder of the Los Flamencos National Reserve. During the tour, you can take in the extraordinary shapes of the landscape, which will make you feel as if you were walking on the moon. During the afternoon, you can enjoy the unbeatable views of the Andes and its volcanoes. As dusk falls you will be overwhelmed by the red and golden colours of the desert sky. All this results in a simply unforgettable tour.

Day 5 - Half day tour to the Salt Flats and Toconao (shared)

On this tour you will visit the impressive Atacama Salt Flats, Jerez Valley, Chaxa Lagoon and Toconao, a town built from volcanic rock.

On this tour we visit the Atacama Salt Flats, where the Los Flamencos Natural Reserve is located, a surprisingly large and arid landscape stretching 100 km from north to south. You can also marvel at the amazing Chaxa Lagoon, a spectacularly beautiful setting, which is split into various clear water lagoons, inhabited by both Andean and James flamingos. We then head to Toconao, a traditionally colonial-style village, famous for the bell tower of the San Lucas church, which has been declared as a National Monument. Agriculture and crafts are the principal source of income for its inhabitants who offer proudly crafted gifts made from volcanic rock.

Day 6 - Full day tour to the Tatio Geyser (shared)

Our journey to the Altiplano starts in the early hours, so we can watch the sun rise in one of the most important geothermic fields in the world: the Tatio Geysers. There are over 70 geysers with pools of boiling water spurting vapor. 

It is best to see them first thing in the morning, so you can truly appreciate the beautiful contrast of colors between the intensely blue sky and the pristine vapor from the geysers. We will then enjoy a deserved breakfast in this amazing setting, in the shadows of the Andes. This will allow us to warm up, as the temperatures in the zone can range from -2° C to 24.5° C. On our way back to San Pedro de Atacama, we will travel through some beautiful landscapes, seeing the valleys, flora and fauna and maybe spot some of the local vicuñas and vizcachas – a real highlight. We will then stop off in the village of Machuca, a truly atacameño village of just 20 houses built from clay, straw and cactus wood. The inhabitants of Machuca all dedicate themselves to its tourism and will offer hand crafted Andean souvenirs, as well as typical food from the region such as llama meat, sopaipillas (a traditional bread made from squash) and empanadas. While there, we will also visit the beautiful San Santiago Church, named after the patron saint of the village, as well as visiting the wetlands where we can see flamingos, ducks and other birds.

Day 7 - Fly to the Lake District

Today you will be taken by private transfer to Calama airport where you will catch a domestic flight (included) to Puerto Montt. Once landed, you will be met by your guide and driven by private car to your hotel in Puerto Varas. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure!

Day 8 - Full day tour to Petrohue waterfall and Osorno volcano (shared)

Pick-up at your hotel in Puerto Varas to explore the Osorno volcano. On the way we will pass by typical wooden churches, Chilean farmhouses and the town of Ensenada. We will drive through a thick forest of mostly native Coigües to reach Chile’s oldest National Park, Vicente Pérez Rosales, founded in 1926.

Our first stop within this park will be the waterfalls of Petrohué. We will hike a short trail through native forests: you will be amazed by the crystal green waterfalls. We will get back to the car and drive on heading to the slopes of the Osorno Volcano. At 1.300 m / 4.265 ft. above sea level we will make a short hike over lava fields and enjoy the impressive view over the lake Llanquihue. On a clear day we can see the Pacific Ocean. On our way we will have time for a picnic lunch and be able to enjoy a great view over the lake “Lago Todos Los Santos” and several snow-capped volcanoes. In the afternoon return to your hotel in Puerto Varas.

Day 9 - Alerce Andino National Park - private

Day 10 - Fly to Punta Arenas and bus to Puerto Natales

Today you will be taken by private transfer to Puerto Montt airport where you will catch a domestic flight (included) to Punta Arenas in southern Patagonia. Once landed, a guide will meet you and assist you in catching the bus to Puerto Natales, 3 hours away.

Once arrived, a guide with driver will be waiting for you at the bus station and you will be driven by private car to your hotel.  Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure!

Day 11 - Full day Balmaceda and Serrano glacier tour (shared)

You can not miss this amazing trip if you are in town. We invite you to know the incredible world of the fjords.

On the way you can observe native wildlife, visit the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers and enjoy a delicious Whiskey with millennial ice.

Included: Lunch.

Day 12 - Full day Torres del Paine tour (shared)

Departure from the Hotel in Puerto Natales. We will start our tour visiting the Milodon Cave Natural monument about 30 minutes away from the town. This cave was discovered by a German Captain in 1895.He found a skin piece of a prehistoric animal called “Milodon” of 10000 years old. We will have a 30-minute walk to visit the Cave. Next, we drive 45 minutes to our next stop, the Village of Cerro Castillo, heart of the sheep Farming Business in the Area. Here we can make a break of 20 minutes before we continue to travel along big glacier valleys now occupied by sheep farms. About 30 minutes after we leave Cerro Castillo, we will spot the mountains of the Paine Massif (if the weather is favorable) including the famous Torres del Paine and the spectacular Cuernos del Paine. There are several viewpoints from where you are able to observe this amazing mountain formation. Also, you can see lakes Sarmiento and Amarga before reaching the park’s entrance. This area is also the best place to observe the wild life of the park such as guanacos, ñandues, condors, etc. in big numbers and close to the road. We continue to the central area of the park to observe lakes like Nördenskjold and Pehoe which have a characteristic colour. Also, the waterfall Salto Grande is another of the main highlights in this side of the park. We stop in a restaurant to have lunch and then we continue to the west side, the area of Lake Grey. We hike for about 1 hour to reach the lake shore in which we see many icebergs that come from the Grey Glacier, evidence of the last Ice Age here in Patagonia. After visiting this area we’ll start to drive back to the town and return to your hotel.

Day 13 - Flay back to Santiago

Today you will be taken by private transfer to the bus station in Puerto Natales, the starting point of your 3-hour bus ride back to Punta Arenas airport.

Here you will board the domestic flight (included) back to Santiago. Once landed, a private car will drive to your hotel in the city for one last night.

Day 14 - Departure

Your once in you life adventure in Chile has come to an end but you leave full of everlasting memories. A private car will pick you up at a suitable time and drive you to the airport for you flight back home.
